Transformer
An electromagnetic device, with two or more coils linked by magnetic
lines of force, used to increase or decrease AC voltage. With a voltage
increase, current decreases, and vice versa. In HVAC controls the
transformer usually converts line voltage (115V) to a low voltage (24 V).
