Suggested Training Tracks-Areas of Interest

Training Tracks

The area of interest selection selects the recommended first courses for the learner to undertake. Our panel of SME Faculty has worked hard to select from the subscription catalog the courses and the order of delivery that should best ensure competence and engagement. Of course, skills learned from local on the job training are necessary for addition to the academic nature of these courses.

New Hire

The newly hired employee is likely the least experienced team member. Learners in this category begin with customer service and communication skills, then through HVAC fundamentals.

Maintenance Technician

The maintenance technician performs tasks such as filter maintenance, coil cleaning, and inspections. Learners can be from any experience level in this category. This selection of courses starts with the beginning concepts and prepares the learner to function successfully.

Installation Technician

Installation technicians frequently fail as a result of having not previously learned the basic concepts of HVAC systems. Learners can be just beginning or have ‘some’ experience. This selection of courses starts with the beginning concepts and prepares the learner to function successfully with general installation skills. Courses from this category include basic electrical, basic refrigeration, airflow, and building systems.

Facilities Technician

Technicians seeking to pursue the Facilities Technician track in this category should have at least two years’ experience with HVAC. If this experience is not present then consider first completing the Maintenance, Installation and HVAC Service Technician tracks first. Later courses sourced from the Chiller and Boilers tracks provide great overall base-knowledge. The premium Building Automation program teaches advanced knowledge.

HVAC Service Technician

The HVAC Service Technician track is best suited for those technicians that have a solid understanding of the principle of HVAC. If these skills are not present then consider first completing the Maintenance and Installation tracks first. Courses such as airflow, electrical, refrigeration and much more are sourced from the catalog for presentation.

Refrigeration Technician Prerequisites

The refrigeration technician is considered an advanced track. The courses available within this track are prerequisites to the premium Commercial Refrigeration Program. Consider the experience level of the technician before beginning this track.

Customer Service

The Customer Service track is perfect for any employee that directly faces the customer (in any capacity). Courses are selected from the Foundation and Business categories. For Managers and advanced CSR’s consider the premium course Customer Service which is dedicated to Customer Service skills and directed by a national leader in customer service training.

Spanish Language Core

Five basic courses are available in Spanish sourced from basic refrigeration, basic electrical, airflow, refrigeration and fundamental (physics) of HVAC.
