TASK: Measure capacitance of capacitor

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Capacitance must be determined.  Test equipment must be calibrated, connected, and operated according to manufacturer’s specifications.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE

  1. Review manufacturer’s specifications and wiring diagrams.
  2. Collect tools and equipment.
  3. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  4. Disconnect electrical power to equipment.
  5. Remove access cover(s) and locate capacitor.
  6. Disconnect and discharge capacitor from circuit.
  7. Calibrate and connect analyzer according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  8. Read capacitance of capacitor and record findings.
  9. Discharge capacitor and disconnect analyzer.
  10. Reconnect capacitor in circuit.
  11. Replace access cover(s).
  12. Leave equipment in required operating status.
  13. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  14. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials and leave work site clean.
