HVAC Procedure and Performance Guide

TASK: Install low-voltage cable

                         131 – Oil Heat l  and  161 – Boilers l

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Low-voltage cable must be installed according to job specifications and codes.  Cable must be UL listed and must be routed in protected area and secured with staples at code-specified intervals.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed

PROCEDURE GUIDE

    1. Review job specifications and codes.
    2. Determine size and routing for cable.
    3. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
    4. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
    5. Prepare cable openings along routing.
    6. Feed cable through openings along routing to complete run and secure with staples.
    7. Install guard strips and protector plates as required by codes.
    8. Make final inspection of work.
    9. Request inspection by local code representative.
    10. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
    11. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials and leave work site clean.
