PPG20 – Prepare Equipment Foundation/Base..

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Equipment foundation/base must be prepared according to manufacturer’s specifications and job requirements.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE

1. Review manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications for equipment foundation/base.
2. Determine type of base needed and location for installation.
3. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
4. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
5. Prepare site.
   • Concrete foundation/base.
     • Excavate site.
     • Place gravel fill.
     • Install forms.
     • Install vapor barrier, if applicable.
     • Order Ready-Mix concrete or mix concrete at site.
     • Pour and finish concrete.
     • Remove forms, back fill, finish grade, seed and straw.
   • Plastic (synthetic) pad.
     • • Prepare level surface.
       • Place pad according to manufacturer’s instructions.
   • Wood/metal frame.
     • • Obtain mounting template for equipment.
       • Determine dimensions & weight of base supports.
       • Prepare sketch of frame.
       • Fabricate frame.
       • Position and secure frame.
6. Install flashing, drip molding, sealants, etc. as required.
7. Make final inspection of work.
8. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
9. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials, and leave work site clean.
