Replace V-belt

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

V-belt must be installed and aligned, and tension adjusted according to manufacturer’s specifications.  All safety guard(s) must be in place.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE

  1. Review job order and manufacturer’s specifications.
  2. Determine belt size and length required.
  3. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
  4. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  5. Disconnect electrical power to equipment.
  6. Remove safety guard(s).
  7. Loosen tensioning device and remove old belt.
  8. Verify that replacement belt is suitable replacement.
  9. Check sheaves for wear and correct alignment.
  10. Install belt and adjust tension according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  11. Reconnect electrical power.
  12. Test equipment operation and stop equipment.
  13. Replace safety guard(s).
  14. Leave equipment in required operating status.
  15. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  16. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials, and leave work site clean.
