TASK: Install equipment vibration isolator

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Equipment vibration isolator must be installed according to manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications.  Equipment vibration must not be transmitted to structure, and noise associated with vibration must be minimized.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE

  1. Review job order, manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications.
  2. Determine types, quantity and location of isolator(s) required.
  3. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
  4. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel as required.
  5. Prepare and install isolator(s).
  6. Pad type:
  7. Determine size of pad required.
  8. Cut to size.
  9. Install according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  10. Factory-fabricated, rubber or spring-type:
  11. Determine load requirements and select correct isolator.
  12. Install according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  13. Check effectiveness of vibration isolator(s) when equipment is placed in operation.
  14. If excessive vibration and noise occur, inspect equipment for loose bolts, unbalanced fan, misalignment, incorrectly mounted equipment; and make required repairs.
  15. Make final inspection of work.
  16. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  17. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials, and leave work site clean.
