HVAC Procedure and Performance Guide

TASK: Install air-handling unit: overhead mount.

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

Air-handling unit must be installed according to manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications. When completed system is placed in operation, unit must operate quietly and must perform to specifications.  Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE

  1. Review job order, manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications.
  2. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
  3. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  4. Install mounting frame and hangers.
  5. Install vibration isolators.
  6. Position equipment and secure to frame and hangers according to specifications.
  7. Connect refrigerant lines.
  8. Make electrical connections.
  9. Make duct connections using flexible connectors.
  10. Connect control devices.
  11. Install filters.
  12. Install condensate drain with trap.
  13. Check equipment for correct component function as permitted by job progress; make final performance checks when completed system is placed in operation.
  14. Install insulation on refrigerant lines.
  15. Make final inspection of work.
  16. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  17. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials, and leave work site clean.
