HVAC Procedure and Performance Guide

TASK: Install in-line or angle hand valve

STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE

In-line or angle hand valve must be located and installed according to manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications.  Valve must not be damaged in installation, must operate according to manufacturer’s specifications, and must not leak.   Applicable safety procedures must be followed.

PROCEDURE GUIDE      

  1. Review manufacturer’s specifications and job specifications.
  2. Collect tools, equipment and materials.
  3. Put on safety and protective equipment and apparel.
  4. Determine type of connection required and correct location for valve.
  5. Verify that valve is correct size and type for application.
  6. Install valve:

a. Valve: Solderless connection requiring no heat:

1) Prepare tubing.

2) Install valve according to manufacturer’s specifications.

b. Valve: Solder connection:

1)  Prepare tubing.

2) Disassemble valve according to manufacturer’s instructions.

3) Install valve body. (Note:  Do not direct heat on main part of valve during installation.  Use heat-trap paste on body if additional protection is required).

4) Reassemble valve when cool according to manufacturer’s instructions.

7. Remove safety and protective equipment and apparel.

8. Gather tools, equipment and leftover materials, and leave work site clean.

9. Test for leaks when refrigerant circuit has been completed, and make required repairs
